          1955:-
          Enrolled in art classes conducted by the British Council, studying painting and sculpture.

          Wai Hon tries to explain Eng Teng's versatility in terms of deeply lodged drives which can only be accommodated by a range of multi-media activities.

          1956:-
          Enrolled in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts; discontinued studies after a few months due to illness; submitted to the care of Dr Ng Yew Seng, an uncle, in Kuala Trengganu (State of Trengganu, Malaysia) for two years.

          1957:-
          Began to exhibit works in group shows, displaying paintings and sculptures.

          Returned to Singapore; employed as trainee-artist by Shaw Brothers, Fortune Advertising; studied privately with Liu Ka
