          Shingo Takatsu was a Japanese baseball pitcher who played professionally for almost two decades. He was born on December 25, 1968, in Uji, Kyoto, Japan. Takatsu began playing baseball in high school and continued playing throughout college.

          In 1990, he was drafted by the Yakult Swallows of the Japanese Central League.
          Takatsu made his professional debut in 1991, and throughout his career, he became known as a reliable closer. He helped the Swallows win the Japan Series in 1993 and 1995, and in 2001 he was selected to the All-Star game.

          This past year no one was elected on the Player's Division ballot, although Shingo Takatsu fell just short at 73%.

          Takatsu remained with the Swallows until 2004 when he moved to the Chicago White Sox.
          In the United States, Takatsu quickly made an impact with the White Sox. He finished the 2004 season with a 2.31 ERA and a record of 5-1, helping the team win their first World Series championship since 1917.

          In 2005, Takatsu had a slightly rougher season, and he was traded to the Oakland Athletics in 2006. However, he did not see much succ
